Helmet Safety Rating

SHARP is the Safety Helmet and Assessment Rating Programme - it's the helmet safety scheme for motorcyclists conducted by British Government. Their objective is to educate motorcyclists and other road users about better behaviour that could reduce casualties. They are trying to save 50 lives of motorcyclist per year from the initiative by advising them to use the high scoring helmets for better protection.

This for sure will have impact on my decision for the 'perfect' helmet. Here goes the result from SHARP research on my helmet list:

Shoei X11 XSpirit - 4 Star

Arai RX7 Corsair - 3 Star

AGV Stealth - Not Yet!

I would really think about my helmet choice after this. You too!

My own Ninja!

The chap at Chear Klang called me at around 330pm and told me that my bike has arrived. Yeahhh..... 'Buat-buat busy' while waiting for the clock to tick at 5, then suddenly my boss asked me to help a colleague to explain on our business improvement plan to the consultant ... and it was already 430pm.. HUH! I packed my stuff and straight went to the meeting location at 12th floor. Instead of meeting the guys at the discussion corner, I met them at the entrance door as they already concluded the meeting coz the consultants want to go home early. So chit-chat a lil bit, hug-hug bye-bye and I'm back on track. Lucky Me!

I managed to get out from the office at around 450pm before the exodus and arrived at Klang after 30 minutes journey on my ever reliable horse - Yamaha Legenda. I entered the shop, met CK, discussed about the final payment with one of the pretty clerk, signed the cheque and they showed me the way to the 'back office'. And there she was ... standing forever waiting for the right guy to push the right (err.. start) button. Whatever lah....
Here goes the pics of my Kawasaki Ninja 250R with Candy Plasma Blue colour. Ain't she so lovely .....

Pics taken using my PDA Phone. I should bring my Digital Camera instead!

The Perfect Helmet - Which One?

I'm in the mood to shop for the perfect helmet to protect my precious head. Protection always come in mind as the first priority and the rest is all about err... looking cool wearing it! After wandering around the net for clues and visiting some of the specialist bike stores around KL, I've made the list for the 'perfect' helmet. Here it goes:

1. AGV Stealth (not the one worn by Rossi. Stealth design is more subtle than from Rossi own line ie on TiTech and GP Pro models. His limited edition helmet is damn expensive... > RM4k!)

2. Shoei X11 Vermeulen TC2 (race replica worn by Chris Vermulen, MotoGP Suzuki Rizla rider. A cool chap just like me .... hehehe)

3. Shoei X11 Kagayama (race replica worn by Yukio Kagayama, rider in BSB and WSBK. Never heard of him before, but his helmet design is nice. Look Celtic to me rather than Japs)

4. Arai RX7 Randy De Puniet (race prelica worn by Randy De Puniet, MotoGP rider)

5. Arai RX7 Dani Pedrosa (race replica worn by Dani Pedrosa, MotoGP rider for Honda Repsol. The boy wonder from Spain)
Guys - Help me to choose!

The next Pastrana

The kid that may be the new Travis Pastrana in the future. He's trying one of the 'bicycle' that is available at Chear Motorsport in Klang. The bicycle is actually Kawasaki KSR. That bicycle would make his dad RM8,000 poorer.

Trip to Penang

I'm going to start a new chapter in my blog that will record my trips/ tours/ vacations to whatever places that I may go ... with a camera ofcourse. I guess it will be more on my business trips and bike convoys/ get-together if i'm active with those kind of activities.

First entry - My business trip to Penang on 26th June 2008. I had to do a product presentation for 30 minutes to our high-end customers in Penang but I have to spend a night there ..... hehehe. The seminar committee reserved a room for me at Gurney Hotel Resort & Residence located along the famous Gurney Drive. Great Choice! The room is big with walk-in wardrobe, dedicated shower corner with glass screen (not in the bath-tub.. yikes!), great view facing the sea, nice pillow and FREE INTERNET access in the room.

... and the best part is they only charged me RM170 for the night! I think that was the corporate rate. This will be my favourite hotel for my many business trips in the future.

A table, a chair and the Sea.

Ample space. Can 'tapau' dinner and eat comfortably at the table.

At night, me with some friends when out to Penang Street. We had a very late dinner at 11pm and the three of us 'pekena sup kambing'. The mutton soup is so delicious that i forgot to snap pictures. My PDA phone night-shot quality won't help either. Lesson learnt - always bring a proper Digital Camera on any trips.
